Inclement Weather Policy

Kindergarten-8th Grade

In case of inclement weather, Saint Timothy Catholic School, in accordance with diocesan policy, may make an announcement of “no school,” “delayed opening,” or “early closing” based on Fairfax County guidance. Families will be notified via email and the School Messenger System. If school is closed or closes early, all after school activities will be cancelled.

On the rare occasion of a prior scheduled noon dismissal and cause for an alteration in schedule, the following procedure applies: if a one hour delayed opening is announced, we will have school from 9:00 am to 12:00; if a two hour delayed opening is announced, school will be closed.

Preschool

If there is a one-hour delayed opening, the morning session will have school from 9:00 – 11:00 and the afternoon session will not change.

If there is a two-hour delayed opening, the morning session will have school from 10:00 – 12:00 and the afternoon session will have school from 1:15 – 3:15.

Special Circumstances: On the rare occasion when we are scheduled for an 12:00 dismissal and there is cause for an alteration in schedule, the following procedure applies: if Fairfax County announces a one hour delayed opening, the classes scheduled to attend will have school from 9:00 am to 11:00 am for morning classes and 12:00 pm for full day classes; if Fairfax County announces a two hour delayed opening we will not have school.

AfterCare

If Saint Timothy Catholic School is closed due to inclement weather, the AfterCare Program will be closed.
