Mrs. Tijerina joined our staff in 2014. An Ohio native, she graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors degree in Education and comes to us with 15 years of experience teaching in private and public schools in the US and abroad. Mrs. Tijerina’s career began in 1999 in Washington DC Public Schools where she taught 4th grade. She taught 6th grade at St. James Catholic School in Falls Church before being transferred with her husband to Frankfurt, Germany. In Germany Mrs. Tijerina taught 6th grade PE and 7th/8th grade Health in a Department of Defense School and then moved to the Frankfurt International School where she taught PE to grade 2-5 and then became the 2nd grade teacher. From Germany she moved to San Antonio, Texas where she taught Kindergarten in a small Catholic School before moving to Alice Springs, Australia, which is in the middle of the Outback! Mrs. Tijerina took on the challenge of teaching Aboriginal children. After a few years in Australia she moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico where she again taught in a Catholic School. She feels very fortunate to have been given many diverse opportunities to teach and looks forward to the new experiences that she will have in 3A!
